Frequently asked questions about starting counselling...

F&Q 1
How long do sessions last, and how often do we meet?

Sessions routinely take place weekly, at the same time and same day, (unless arranged otherwise), lasting 50 minutes at a time.

Please note that sessions must end at 50 minutes because of other scheduled appointments that may take place after yours. For this reason it is important to try to attend sessions on time, so as to make use of your full 50 minutes of session time.

If you are late to a session, a full session fee will still be charged.

If for any reason you need to cancel a session, I ask that you inform me 24 hours in advance otherwise a fee for the session will still be charged.

F&Q 2
I am interested in counselling but how do I begin?

If you have found yourself here and are still interested in beginning counselling, it would be a pleasure to hear from you!

It is very simple, pop me an email, with a short message about your interest, and I will contact you as soon as I am able to. This should take no longer than 48 hours to hear back.

You can find my email address either in the contact tab or at the bottom of this page.

Please note that at this time, I am only available for online video sessions and also offer telephone counselling sessions if you prefer. Online sessions are still very effective, and offer an extra sense of comfortability and accessibility when fitting in to client's busy schedules effortlessly.

F&Q 3
Are counselling sessions confidential?

Yes - sessions are confidential, in other words what we explore and what you share stays in the confines of our therapeutic relationship.

There are however some situations where, a counsellor may break confidentiality, if for example there are extreme risks to person or multiple person's safety, or if particular legislation has been broken. For more information please view the privacy policy tab on this website.

F&Q 4
How do I pay for sessions, and how much do they cost?

I believe that counselling should be made more affordable, sessions here at The Blissful Fox cost £50.00 per session.

I accept payments via bank transfer, or using PayPal. Payments to be paid before sessions.

I am also happy to consider a discount in price in some cases, e.g. have a low income

Please note that if you are a student counsellor currently in training, please feel free to enquire about student rate.

F&Q 5
Do I need to bring anything to sessions?

You don't need to bring anything to our sessions, just yourself!

Our sessions are confidential, and so it is important not to bring along anyone else to the session, unless this is discussed first.

F&Q 6
How will I know if counselling is for me?

It is important to note that at any time you have complete control over whether you wish to continue counselling.

If you enquire about counselling, I will contact you for a phone call to discuss beginning. Upon our first initial meeting, I will ask you to complete an assessment, this is a number of questions that will provide me information such as: contact details, GP details, what has brought you to counselling, and basic outline of relationships, goals and expectations.

If we agree to continue, I will outline the framework of our therapeutic relationship, e.g. cost, duration, confidentiality, contracting.

From here is we both feel we would work together well, we can begin our sessions. I will review with you after 6 sessions, where we can discuss whether you wish to continue sessions.

If you have any more questions, or you can not find the answer you are looking for, please send me an email and I would be more than happy to try and answer your question!
